About Kayla

After graduating with my Masters in Social Work, I began working in a residential eating disorder hospital in Colorado. I then spent 5 years working in residential settings, partial hospitalization programs (PHP), intensive outpatient programs (IOP), and outpatient care. I worked as a group therapist, individual therapist, and clinical director.  My practice focuses on eating disorders, anxiety, depression, the LGBTQIA+ community, and trauma. Being able to combine my personal values of equity, compassion, and connection with my profession has been such an amazing opportunity. When not with clients, I love to spend my time in nature, reading, trying out a new craft project or eating my way through the Bay Area.

Values

As a social worker, I prioritize rooting my practice in service, social justice, and integrity. As a human, I value connection, growth, and fun. I use these values to guide my work and to create a space where we can explore the hard parts of being a human while also leaving room for humor and open-heartedness.

Treatment Modalities

I use a combination of evidence-based practices including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) , acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), parts work, and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR). In my work with eating disorders, I operate from a Health at Every Size and anti-diet lens. I support clients by creating a treatment plan that best fits their needs, while also guiding the work with therapeutic knowledge. With experience working in many levels of care, and having gained insight through my own personal experiences, I am able to approach my clients with understanding, compassion, and knowledge.
